Snow Gear Cleaning & Drying Guide
All NINETY ROLL ski jackets and ski pants feature a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish. To maintain waterproof performance and breathability, wash your garment only when necessary and follow the care instructions below.
1. Washing Instructions
- Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the fabric, coatings, and printed graphics.
- Fasten all zippers and hook-and-loop closures.
- Use an additive-free technical detergent, such as Nikwax Tech Wash or NST Outerwear Wash.
- Do not use household detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, as they may reduce water repellency and breathability.
- Machine wash on a synthetic cycle at 30ยฐC (86ยฐF) with a maximum spin speed of 800 rpm.
2. Restoring Waterproofing
Over time, the factory-applied DWR finish may wear off. If water no longer beads on the fabric surface, restore the DWR treatment using one of the following methods.
A. Spray-On Method
- After washing, apply the spray evenly to the outer fabric, paying extra attention to high-wear areas.
- If the product requires heat activation, tumble dry on low heat (max 60ยฐC / 140ยฐF) according to the manufacturerโs instructions.
- If heat activation is not required, allow the garment to air dry naturally.
B. Wash-In Method
- Add a wash-in waterproofing treatment (such as Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In or Grangers Clothing Repel) during a second wash cycle.
- Follow the waterproofing product manufacturerโs instructions for drying. Some products require low-heat tumble drying to activate the treatment, while others do not.
3. Drying Instructions
- After normal washing, air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat and sunlight.
- Do not tumble dry unless restoring the DWR finish with a product that specifically requires heat activation.
4. Storage & Maintenance
- Always air dry your jacket and pants thoroughly after each day of use, even if they only feel slightly damp.
- Store the garment only when it is completely dry to help prevent mold, odors, and premature wear of the DWR finish.
- Avoid prolonged compression when storing the garment to help maintain its shape and performance.
- Reapply a DWR treatment whenever water no longer beads on the fabric surface.
